About the
SOLSTICE STRING QUARTET

Founded at Cambridge University in 2003, and now based in London, the Solstice Quartet has proven itself to be a vital young ensemble of outstanding talent and musicality, and has enjoyed widespread success with its varied schedule of recitals, collaborations and study. The quartet has recently changed personnel, with violinist Nicholas Shardlow and violist Meghan Cassidy joining founder members Jamie and Gregor in August 2007.

Since then they have gone on to achieve great success; the quartet have recently been awarded a full scholarship for the Academic Year 2008-9 at the Instituto Internacional de Música de Cámara de Madrid where they will study intensively every month with Prof. Günter Pichler of the Alban Berg Quartet. In spring 2008 they were selected for the Tillett Trust Young Artists' Platform and the Park Lane Group Young Artists' Scheme; as a result they will make their Purcell Room (January 2009) and Wigmore Hall (February 2009) debuts.
